Small
Kindness
Doug Hunter
performed a small act of kindness the other day, but not the one he intended.
Doug and his family serve at a Mercy Ships land-based hospital in Sierra Leone,
West Africa. It is one of the poorest nations on earth. Doug’s seven-year-old
twin sons play on a local soccer team. After a recent practice, Doug offered to
buy all the boys on the team a soft drink. Much to his surprise, every one of
the pint-sized athletes declined, asking instead if they could take the money
home to their parents.
You see, Doug’s act of kindness was dwarfed by the children’s concern for their
families. You see, mercy, at any age, shows concern for others.
Whatever your age, put the needs of others first. Now, go and show mercy to
someone today.
This is Don Stephens of Mercy Ships reminding you, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."
