When the Door Opens
Chaplain
McMullen knocked on the door of the mobile home. When it opened, he was staring
into the barrel of a gun. It wasn’t exactly what he expected. McMullen is a
chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol. The woman holding the gun was afraid of
hurricane Katrina looters. She didn’t know that he was there to help.
The chaplain carefully kept eye contact. He gently explained he was knocking on
doors to check on residents and search for missing persons. After a few minutes
of conversation, the gun gradually fell to her side, and she invited the
chaplain to pray with her.
There is someone in your world today who needs comfort, consolation or prayer.
Mercy overcomes fear and distrust, and opens the door of people’s hearts.
Overcome the fear of others by showing mercy to someone today.
This is Don Stephens of Mercy Ships reminding you, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."
