Church Helps Katrina Victims
After Hurricane
Katrina devastated coastal towns in Louisiana, the call for help went out round
the world. And, the world responded … from every corner of the globe. Some of
those places responding were a bit surprising.
For one particular church in New Orleans, help came from the Middle East. After
seeing the devastation on TV, a small Iraqi church decided they had to help.
They contacted World Compassion and sent money to a church that had been
destroyed by the hurricane.
The New Orleans pastor was surprised when he heard the money had come from Iraq.
Later, he mentioned how grateful he was for those around the world, “especially
that church in Iraq.”
Mercy finds a way to send hope and help others. It crosses cultural, religious,
and political bounds. Now you go and show mercy to someone today.
